A federal judge has dismissed a sexual assault case brought by Angelica Parker against the Alexander brothers, ruling that it was filed outside the acceptable time frame allowed by law.
Allegations and Legal Proceedings
The allegations against Oren Alexander and his twin brother, Alon, date back to an incident that Parker claims took place in the fall of 2012.
She described how, along with a friend, they were allegedly given ecstasy without their knowledge and then assaulted in Oren’s Manhattan apartment.
Parker asserted that when her friend began to feel uneasy and left, she was left behind and subsequently raped by Alon, with Oren allegedly facilitating the assault.
Parker filed her lawsuit in June 2024, under New York City’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law (VGMVPL), which permits individuals two years to initiate legal action until March 2025.
However, the judge ruled that Parker’s claim fell outside the timeframe established by the Adult Survivors Act (ASA) in New York, which was active from November 2022 to November 2023.
The court decided that the ASA takes precedence over the VGMVPL, resulting in the dismissal.
Impact of Dismissal and Ongoing Legal Issues
Tal Alexander’s case was dismissed without prejudice, leaving the door open for Parker to revise and resubmit her complaint up until February 14 next year.
This dismissal is just one chapter in the ongoing legal troubles surrounding the Alexander brothers.
Reports have emerged that even before the dismissal, a separate complaint had been lodged against Tal in Miami by another woman, who alleged that she was coerced into visiting Oren’s apartment where she was assaulted.
The Alexander twins, once well-known names in New York City’s real estate scene after their tenure at Douglas Elliman, launched their own luxury brokerage, Official Partners, in 2022.
However, their reputations took a hit in June 2024, following accusations from two women who filed sexual assault lawsuits against both Oren and Alon Alexander, which prompted Parker’s lawsuit only days later.
Consequences and Denials
The situation intensified in December 2024 when the brothers faced serious state and federal charges related to sex trafficking.
They are currently in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, with no trial date set as of now.
In the wake of these serious allegations, their business partners at Official Partners quickly distanced themselves from the firm, resulting in its closure.
Additionally, Side, the brokerage that had previously worked with the Alexanders, is pursuing legal action for repayment of a $4.6 million promissory note due to alleged defaults.
Throughout all these developments, the Alexander brothers have staunchly denied the sexual assault allegations, claiming that Side has fabricated false claims regarding their financial responsibilities.
